I own a credit repair company and I want to offer my services to customers across the United States. However, I\’m starting to see that states have different legal requirements. When outside of my state, which state law applies to the contracts that I use with them, my state or the client\’s?
The short answer is both CROA and each State, with exceptions, require specific language for your Client Agreement/Contract. The Agreement follows the Client, so if you are a CRO in CA and you have Clients in CA the Agreement would be a CA State specific Agreement. If you are a CRO in CA and you have a Client in AZ, you are required to have an AZ State specific Agreement for that AZ Client. There may be additional licensing/bonding requirements in those States, as well. I am not an attorney and this is not legal advice.
